Kukko Beer

Famous Finnish Beer brewed with the power of the wind and the sun

Company profile

In the Far North of Europe, where the happiest people live, lies Laitila Brewery, founded in 1995. Acknowledged in 2016 by Greenpeace as Finland’s greenest brewery, the company is nestled in lush green hills just outside the charming little town of Laitila.

Laitila Brewery is the largest independent craft brewery in northern Europe, known for its high-quality, innovative drinks: beers, ciders, soft drinks, sparkling water, energy drinks and drink mixes. Their top brand is Kukko under which they brew many different kinds of beers, including non-alcoholic beer.

Laitila Brewery has been selected as the most esteemed brewery in Finland – and Kukko as the most esteemed beer brand in Finland. Honouring traditions that date back hundreds of years, they brew beer in a modern, environmentally friendly brewery with a BRC certification.

The challenge: How to open a business and grow in the highly competitive German market?

For many years, Kukko beer was successfully exported to Sweden and to Asian countries. Laitila Brewery looked for expanding sales to the big markets in Europe, such as Germany. The challenge was to find a reliable partner who supported the expansion and who helped to bring Kukko beer to Germany. And here TeamBlue came into the game.

The solution: Partnering with TeamBlue

The brewery’s partnership with TeamBlue was kicked off in 2021 in Berlin. First beers were sold in Germany through the TeamBlue Amazon channel. With TeamBlue’s support, offline sales started in a store chain specialized in beverages in Berlin in 2022. Today, Kukko beer is very well established on Amazon marketplace and in more than 200 shops in Berlin and Brandenburg/Germany.

Future plans

It is planned to introduce Kukko beer to other European countries, such as Italy. Kick-off meetings have taken place and it was agreed to make Kukko beer available in Italy in summer 2024. Overall goal: Refresh Europe with the first gluten-free full-malt beer in the world!
